LAHORE:

Immediate steps will be taken to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to the export-oriented industry, said Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) Managing Director Syed Ali Javaid Hamdani.

Speaking to a delegation of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) on Tuesday, he promised action against the delinquent officials who were involved in disconnecting the gas connections or issuing frivolous notices to the mills.

He also took strong notice of the intentional delay in the implementation of court orders by some regional offices of SNGPL and assured businessmen of immediate restoration of gas supply in compliance with the court orders.

“We will develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to expeditiously settle complaints of Aptma members,” he said. “We will take the private sector on board for the resolution of its energy-related issues.”

In this regard, he announced the constitution of a resolution committee consisting of SNGPL General Manager Wajiha Anwar and Aptma Executive Director Raza Baqir to examine and settle all matters amicably.

Speaking on the occasion, Aptma Central Chairman Adil Bashir urged the SNGPL MD to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas at normal pressure to the export industry to enable it to create additional jobs, attract new investment and lift exports of the country.

He also talked about the applications filed by the industry with SNGPL for the extension in load and stressed the need for taking measures to swiftly process all such applications.

He also demanded the fast-tracking of applications for the change in gas connection mode from industrial to captive.
