During an anti-encroachment drive in the cantonment area, over 55 houses, 12 small bridges and 360 walls were demolished which had been built along a main nullah.

Commissioner Hazara Division Riaz Khan Mehsud and Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Nadeem Nasir told newsmen it was important to revive the natural beauty of Abbottabad by starting an indiscriminate anti-encroachment operation as it had become one of the biggest issues facing the picturesque city.

The commissioner Hazara division said that action was being taken against those who have encroached on the Nullah and drainage system and stopped the natural flow of the water.

The commissioner said that he would write to the cantonment board and the tehsil municipal administration to take action against those employees who were found involved in spreading encroachments and approving illegal building plans.

Riaz Khan said that during massive anti-encroachment drive 55 houses, 12 culverts, 360 walls and other encroachments were removed and the operation will continue till all encroachments were removed.

The commissioner said that they have been conducting the operation with the active support of the public and the political leadership.
