Alleged robber of Afghan origin, gutka makers among arrested

Police on Monday claimed to have arrested seven suspects involved in robberies, drug trafficking and making banned tobacco products like gutka and mawa in separate raids.

According to the Karachi police spokesman, Jackson police arrested Farhan Jan Badshah for allegedly snatching Rs346,000 from Altaf Hussain, a goods supplier of a private company.

An alleged robber was overpowered by citizens near Qadri Mosque in North Karachi within the remits of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station. After a sound thrashing, people handed over the suspect to 15 police helpline. Police recovered 30 bore pistols from the possession of the arrested accused.

Pakistan Bazaar police arrested Rizwan Musa Khan over involvement in motorcycle thefts in Orangi Town and recovered a stolen motorcycle number KJU-0709 from him.

Pakistan Bazar police also arrested Sarfraz Muhammad Usman and Imran Sarfraz for making and supplying unhealthy tobacco chew gutka and mawa. More than 90kg of beetle nut and 80 readymade gutka packs in five sacks were recovered from the duo. The arrested accused used to hide in a house in Sector-14-C to prepare and supply unhealthy gutka.

Meanwhile, Surjani Town police arrested Mohammad Sadiq with more than 1kg of hashish. Awami Colony police arrested an alleged robber Faizan Aslam, an Afghan national, and recovered illegal weapons, a motorcycle and five snatched mobile phones from him.
