A massive tree plantation drive with the active participation of the masses and the district administration has turned hundreds of kanals of barren land into dense potential forests in Chakwal.
This was stated by Chakwal District Range Forest Officer Sher Afzal Raja while talking to the media after planting a sapling in connection with the tree plantation week. He said that the district range forest office was also running a campaign to create awareness among the public of the importance and need of trees.
The forest official added that the motivation of the public has resulted in the plantation of hundreds of thousands of trees on private land.
He added that the forest department has also set up special counters at different points of all districts and tehsils of the division to sell saplings at nominal rates.
“Different types of saplings are being provided to government offices free of cost while Rs2 is being charged from the general public per sapling," he maintained.
