PESHAWAR:

The provincial government has removed Controller Examination Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Malakand Mian Wazir Jan from his post after a video emerged in which his son could be seen sitting in a separate room and a boy is helping him with his paper.

“The video was widely circulated of the controller’s son sitting in separate examination hall during his Chemistry paper and a boy is helping him with books and guides, forcing the authorities to take action against the official,” said a government representative while talking to The Express Tribune.

Earlier the Education Minister had announced an inquiry into the matter.

“Controller Mian Wazir Jan was appointed by the provincial government on the post by ignoring all the rules and regulations in 2018 and it was basically a political appointment. In April 2021 when his tenure expired the provincial government once again asked him to continue his work till further orders, just indicating that he is a politically influential person,” claimed the official.

“A video surfaced of an examination hall at a school in Dir Lower in which his son was shown attempting his chemistry paper with books and guides in front of him and another man helping him. It was circulated by a local YouTube channel and resulted in a public outcry,” he said, adding that it forced the government to take notice.

“Now a formal notification has been issued after initial orders by the minister. The additional charge of the post has been given to Secretary Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Malakand for the time being,” he said.
