They are responsible for regulating traffic and resolving any problems of gridlock

For the first time in the city's history, the traffic police have deployed policewomen on motorcycles to patrol the Sharae Faisal, the most important thoroughfare of the metropolis.

The policewomen took charge of traffic control from Tuesday and have started patrolling from Metropole Hotel to Karsaz and vice versa.

According to traffic police authorities, the all-women squad, apart from spreading awareness on the use of helmets for motorcycle riders and traffic rules for all road users, are also responsible for regulating traffic and resolving any problems of gridlock, road accident and drivers in distress on the thoroughfare which stretches from the Jinnah International Airport Port to the Metropole Hotel intersection near Governor House, CM House and the top hotels of the economic hub of the country.

Authorities said the traffic police personnel on motorcycles have been deployed in various areas of the city including Abdullah Haroon Road, MA Jinnah Road, Methadar, Nazimabad and Hyderi. These personnel also immediately arrive in areas facing traffic problems to clear the roads.
