KARACHI:

A seven-member gang of alleged cars lifters including a couple were arrested by the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) of Karachi police on Sunday.

The suspects told the police that they stole cars only for fun and would dump the vehicles after a nightlong joyride.

AVLC SSP Arif Aslam Rao said that the personnel of the cell have recovered six stolen cars from the suspects. Quoting the suspects, he said that Shujaat, his wife Quratulain and his brother Daniyal used to steal cars with the help of their accomplices Danish, Attaullah, Ehtesham, and Kanwal for enjoyment.

The gang would go on long drives, take drugs, spend the night roaming around and dump the vehicle. Out of 20 cars, that they confessed to have stolen, the suspects said they sold only two.

SSP Rao said police are further investigating the matter.
