Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has emphasised that the real target is sustainable export growth as sustainability is the only recipe for economic success by overcoming the challenges.
Talking to members of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) in Faisalabad, the PM aide boasted that Pakistan’s exports had registered the highest-ever increase of 18% in fiscal year 2020-21 despite the adverse conditions created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Major economies of the world shrank mainly due to the deadliest Covid waves, but it was Pakistan that performed quite well by increasing exports whereas the regional competing economies of India and Bangladesh remained in the negative zone,” he said.
“All credit goes to our exporters who performed extremely well even in the challenging times of the pandemic.”
The PM adviser said that although Pakistan achieved the highest-ever increase in exports, there were still huge challenges that needed to be resolved once and for all for sustainability of export growth.
He pointed out that Prime Minister Imran Khan strongly believed that economic revolution could only be brought through trade promotion and to achieve optimum growth all possible support was being provided for the exporters.
