Bukhari sends worth Rs1b defamation notice to Rawalpindi commissioner

Alleging that the RRP report has defamed and traduced the reputation of the former PM’s aide

ISLAMABAD:

Former SAPM Zulfikar Bukhari on Friday sent Rs1 billion worth of defamation notice to the Rawalpindi Commissioner Gulzar Hussain Shah, who made the report of Rawalpindi Ring Road Project (RRP).

“As promised,I WILL NOT stand& watch lies propagate. I’ve officially taken Commissioner Rwp Gulzar Shah to court for #RingRoadReport,” he said in a tweet. He also shared a copy of the defamation notice.

In the court, Bukhari said the commissioner would have to “prove: ‘Why he wrote in the report I ‘augmented’ influence w/o any proof”.

It alleged that the RRP report has defamed and traduced the reputation of the former PM’s aide. It demanded of the Rawalpindi commissioner to submit a reply within 14 days.

Bukhari has further demanded of the commissioner to withdraw the said defamatory statement made by in the report. “Tender a proper apology to our client and cause the same to be disseminated prominently as the original defamatory statement was broadcast and disseminated,” it read.

It is pertinent to mention that the former premier’s aide had presented himself for all sorts of accountability after the RRP report was made public. He had claimed that he had no involvement in the project.
