IESCO employee injured due to lack of safety kits
In a second such incident this month, a lineman working for Jhelum circle of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) was seriously injured just days after a lineman lost his life owing to lack of safety kits during electric operations and maintenance.
An official working under IESCO’s line superintendent for Jhelum Sohail Razzaq has been sent on leave for attempting to hide the negligence and incompetence of the senior officers.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear among IESCO’s employees working in Jhelum, prompting them to urge the federal minister for water and power to take action.

According to details, Waheed Ahmed, a lineman serving in Rajar sub-division of IESCO, lost his life a week ago because of non-use of safety kits. Despite the horrific incident, the high-ups in IESCO’s Jhelum circle ignored the incident, due to which another incident took place in which a lineman Ziaur Rehman sustained serious injuries because of unavailability of safety kits.
According to WAPDA employees, the director of safety should make an inquiry into all such incidents and determine the causes for corrective measures, but he prefers to sit in chilled rooms while doing away with all excellent reports.
Employees under IESCO’s Jhelum circle have called upon the federal minister for water and power, chief engineer for IESCO Islamabad to take action against superintendent of Jhelum circle while also demanding that an inquiry be held into the incident involving Ziaur Rehman.
