Actor Mansha Pasha has decided to maintain her surname after her marriage to lawyer and activist Jibran Nasir. And in a post on social media, she has also explained why.

It all started when a user commented on a recent Insta post of hers saying, “You haven’t changed your name,” to which she replied, "Yes, because it's not required in Islam.”

To follow-up on the same, she took to her Instagram stories to clarify that she is not implying she is a perfect person or Muslim. "Like everyone else reading this post, I'm full of flaws and a sinner too. But where I can, I try to do my best to improve," she said.

The Laal Kabootar actor added that since there is no compulsion in Islam for women to change their name after marriage, there is no need to do so. "My religion encourages women to keep their name as their identity and as such, I decided not to change my name after marriage," she said.

Pasha added that she is also not judging those who have changed their surnames. "It's a personal choice,” she maintained.

Pasha and Nasir's got engaged at the latter’s relative's house in December 2019 and tied the knot in April 2021. Nasir also threw Pasha a beautiful surprise anniversary party with their close friends later on.

He has described the actor as someone who makes him happy, helps him grow and someone who's been an ‘emotional cornerstone’ to him. "That's the kind of person you want to be your partner for life. And I'm trying to do the same for her," he had said as a guest on Shehzad Ghias' podcast.

On the work front, Mansha was last seen in Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida, also co-starring up and coming actor Zahid Ahmed.
