ISLAMABAD:

Despite the challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, Pakistan’s economy is growing rapidly, but still new sectors and areas have to be explored to enhance exports, said Pakistan Ambassador-designate to the Netherlands Suljuk Mustansir Tarar.

Talking to exporters from different businesses in Sialkot, he pointed out that textile was the only important product imported by the Netherlands from Pakistan.

The envoy pledged to encourage Dutch investors to explore Pakistan’s market for possible joint ventures and investment in conventional and unconventional areas. He vowed to promote new sectors and areas for the exporters in the Netherlands.

Citing figures, he said that Pakistan’s exports to the European nation stood at $1.11 billion and underlined the need for enhancing them. He stated that the purpose of his visit to Sialkot was to expand contacts and exchange information for the promotion of trade between Pakistan and the Netherlands. PRGMEA Chief Coordinator Ijaz Khokhar said that the textile sector was the backbone of Pakistan’s economy.
