Two minor brothers ‘abducted, killed’

Father had barred suspects from playing with children

OKARA:

Two minor brothers were killed after abduction in Rehman Colony area and their bodies were thrown into a canal.

According to the police, three-year-old Talha and nine-year-old Mohammed Ali, sons of Hasnain, were returning home after studying in a seminary when they were abducted by a young man on a motorcycle.

Later, the suspect strangled them to death and threw their bodies into the canal. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar took notice of the murder in the precincts of Okara B-Division police station. He assured the bereaved family that justice will be ensured in the case.

The parents of the children had started searching for them along with local people when they did not return home.

Meanwhile, the police were informed about the incident and DSP Mehar Yousaf and SHO Hafiz Saeed were tasked to recover the children and arrest the kidnapper.

A police team went to the area and arrested two suspects, Noman and Tanveer, with the help of CCTV cameras installed on the route to the madrassa.

Police officials said the detained suspects had confessed to the crime. They reportedly told the police that the victims’ father Hasnain had forbidden them to play with his children a few days ago and abused them. Therefore, they abducted the two brothers out of resentment and took them to the canal bank, where they strangled them before throwing their bodies into the canal.

He said, “Police have arrested both the suspects and the scope of investigation has been widened.”

On the other hand, the children's father said he had no personal enmity with anyone.

Hasnain said, “I only forbade my children to play with these youths but little did I know that they would go so far.” He appealed to the authorities for justice.

In an earlier incident of the murder of a child, a four-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and murdered in Khanewal last week. The body was found in a sack in fields.

The deputy superintendent of police and SHO of the area were suspended after Chief Minister Buzdar took notice of the incident.

According to sources, the four-year-old child was playing with other minor girls in Azizabad, a suburban locality of Khanewal, when she was abducted by an unknown person.

The slain girl’s father Nadeem reported the incident to Kahna police the same day but the mutilated body of the child was found in a sack in fields near Basti Azizabad four days later.

Enraged local people blocked railway tracks and Jahanian bypass.
