ISLAMABAD:

The government should focus on gender inclusive policies and take strong measures to bring more women at workplaces in order to realise the actual economic potential of the country, reiterated Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan. Speaking at the District Convention of Women Workers Alliance organised in collaboration with Sustainable Social Development Organisation, the ICCI chief said that women were half of the total population and bringing them into the mainstream of the economy was very important to enhance their contribution in the economic development of the country. Khan added that as per World Bank’s 2019 report, women’s participation in Pakistani workforce was just 22% while it was over 55% in most of the well-developed countries. He highlighted that women participation in the labour force was 50% in Kuwait, 51% in Malaysia, 54% in Indonesia, 57% in Qatar and 61% in China.
