Actor Amber Heard welcomed a baby daughter earlier this year and told no one. She announced the news on Thursday night on social media to her 3.9m followers.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a photo that sees her tenderly cradling the infant on her chest. The baby girl was born on April 8, she reveals in the caption and has been named Oonagh Paige Heard.
She was born via a surrogate, according to US entertainment website Page Six
Beneath the post, Heard wrote: "I'm so excited to share this news with you. Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms. I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way. I hope we arrive at a point in which it's normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib. A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone's business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this. My daughter was born on April 8, 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard. She's the beginning of the rest of my life."
Following her divorce from actor Johnny Depp, Heard dated tech entrepreneur Elon Musk for a year, until early 2018. In a lead article with Porter in 2018 Heard spoke of pressure on her not to identify as queer.
Heard was in a relationship with photographer Tasya van Ree from 2008 to 2012. In 2009, she was arrested in Washington for misdemeanor domestic violence, after allegedly grabbing van Ree and hitting her arm, but was never charged. In 2016, van Ree stated that Heard had been "wrongfully" accused and that the incident had been "misinterpreted and over-sensationalised".
