Active Covid cases drop below 32,000 in Pakistan

NCOC launches verifiable Covid-19 vaccination certificate

The national tally of total active Covid-19 cases fell to 31,606 on Wednesday as 979 more people tested positive for the virus while 1,499 people made full recovery from the disease during the last 24 hours, according to the latest update issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

The national Covid positivity ratio during past 24 hours was recorded at 2.3%. among that active cases, 1,871 patients remained under treatment in critical condition in various Covid-dedicated healthcare facilities of the country, including 249 on ventilators.

The NCOC said 27 patients have died during past 24 hours, 25 of whom were under treatment in the hospitals, including 13 on ventilators. Most of the deaths occurred in Sindh and followed by Punjab, it added.

Some 42,062 tests were conducted across the country on Tuesday, including 11,852 in Sindh, 17,218 in Punjab, 9,525 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), 1,900 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 746 in Balochistan, 360 in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), and 461 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Since the pandemic broke out, a total of 957,371 cases were detected – AJK 20,293, Balochistan 27,145, GB 6,098, ICT 82,652, K-P 137,951, Punjab 346,180 and Sindh 337,052. Among them 903,484 people have recovered from the disease so far, depicting over 90% recovery ratio.

The nationwide death toll rose to 22,281 on Wednesday. Among them 5,440 people perished in Sindh, 10,747 in Punjab, 4,316 in K-P, 777 in ICT, 308 in Balochistan, 111 in G-B and 582 people in AJK, the NCOC said.

Vaccination certificate

Meanwhile, the NCOC issued a new web portal to download verifiable Covid-19 vaccination certificate. The new website portal would generate a Covid-19 vaccination certificate that could be verified through QR Code scanning and also by visiting National Immunisation Management System's (NIMS) website.

“Now Covid Vaccination Certificate can be verified through QR Code or by visiting http://nims.nadra.gov.pk/nims/certificate,"; the NCOC – which serves as the nerve centre of the country’s fight against pandemic – announced on Twitter.

The tweet also shared a card depicting the website link and necessary instruction to use the web portal. The individuals who have been vaccinated before June 21, 2021 can now download a verifiable vaccination certificate for free, it added.
