LAHORE:

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Tuesday agreed to PML-N member’s complaint about lack of action on resolutions unanimously adopted by the house.

MPA Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain Chachar raised the issue while speaking on a point of order. “We pass the resolutions at the province’s highest forum but no action is taken in line with them. What to speak about the resolutions which are passed with majority in Punjab Assembly, even those we pass unanimously are not acted upon, which is regrettable,” he said.

Speaker Elahi seconded the reservation of the lawmaker but did not issue any ruling.

At another stage, the treasury and opposition lawmakers lambasted each other’s governments over construction and repair of roads across the province during the past decade. PTI’s Shahabuddin Khan, said no road had been built or repaired in his area under the previous government led by PML-N. “Work was done on roads from 2002 to 2008 when Speaker Elahi was in government,” he claimed.

PML-N’s Khalil Tahir Sandhu challenged the PTI member to hold a debate on the issue. He said Shahab had changed his loyalty and joined the PTI so how could he remember the good works of the PML-N.
