Veteran actress Begum Khursheed Shahid dies at 95

Khursheed is considered to be one of the pioneers of PTV

Highly-acclaimed and veteran TV and film star Begum Khursheed Shahid passed away on Sunday after battling a prolonged disease.
She was 95.

Salman Shahid, Khursheed’s son, confirmed the news of her passing and told the media his mother had been on a ventilator since she suffered a cardiac arrest a couple of days ago.

Begum Khursheed’s funeral will be held at 4 pm today in Defense Phase 2, following which her body would be laid to rest in a Phase 7 cemetery.

Born in 1926, Khursheed began her career in Delhi from All India Radio. She migrated to Pakistan in 1947 and is considered to be one of the pioneers of PTV.

She started her acting as well as a singing career at the age of nine and went on to receive the highest civil award, the Pride of Performance, in 1984.

‘Uncle Urfi’, ‘Zair, Zabar, Pesh’ and ‘Parchaiyan’ are some of the best dramas of Khursheed Shahid.
