PCC bans 85 outfits from collecting hides

Officials say release of list before Eidul Azha aimed at curbing terror financing

As Eidul Azha is approaching, the Punjab Charity Commission (PCC) has banned 85 organisations from collecting animal hides and donations.

Some 11 sub-organisations under Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have been included in the proscribed list.

According to the documents available with The Express Tribune, the banned organisations include Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (DAISH), Jamaat ul Ahrar, Jamaatud Dawa, TLP, Al-Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban Swat, Tehreek-e-Taliban Mohmand, Tariq Gedar Group, Abdullah Azam Brigade, 313 Brigade, Tehreek-e-Taliban Bajaur, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah Muhammad Pakistan, Jaish Muhammad and its two subsidiaries, Al-Rahmat Trust Bahawalpur and Al-Furqan Trust Karachi.

The officials said the release of the list of banned organizations before Eidul Azha is aimed at curbing terror financing. They added that all agencies have been informed that banned outfits would be banned from collecting skins of sacrificial animals and violators would have cases registered against them.
