Covid claims 24 more lives in Sindh

Over 600 new infections emerge, nearly 800 persons recover

Another 24 persons succumbed to the coronavirus in Sindh, lifting the provincial death toll to 5,220.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House on Friday, 608 new cases were diagnosed when 11,458 tests were conducted.

As many as 327,004 coronavirus cases have been reported in the province thus far, said CM Syed Murad Ali Shah. Of these 298,344 persons have re-covered, including 798 overnight, he added.

Elaborating further, Shah said that 23,440 persons were under treatment for the coronavirus in Sindh. Of these, 22,704 were in home isolation, 21 at isolation centres and 715 admitted to different hospitals.

The condition of at least 676 persons was stated to be critical with 56 shifted to ventilators. Of the 608 new cases, 393 were detected in Karachi, with the highest number of infections emerging in East district.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad and Shaheed Benazirabad district each reported 23 new cases, Mirpurkhas 19, Badin 17, Jamshoro 13, Naushero Feroze, Sanghar and Umerkot each reported 10, Qambar Shahdadkot reported nine new cases and Khairpur, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan as many, Kashmore and Sukkur four each, Dadu two and Larkana and Shikarpur one each.
