Workshop: Teaching the art of painting

Participants of all age-groups took part in the painting workshop organised by Minerva.

An ongoing workshop at Minerva aims to introduce a new dimension in painting to its participants by exposing them to water colours as a medium of expression.

A Minerva press release on Friday said the workshop is being conducted by Natasha Iqbal, currently working as assistant curator at Rohtas Gallery.

The first two days of the workshop focused on basic drawing techniques to help participants in understanding the object at hand and becoming comfortable with it. The workshop is being attended by participants of varying ages and from different fields of life.

The rest of the workshop will focus on various painting techniques, using water-based colours and pastels. A segment of the workshop will aim at teaching participants how to incorporate watercolours and pastels into a single composition and studying negative and positive drawing.

The workshop will be followed by an exhibition of the participants’ work. The exhibition will be open to all and aims at encouraging art and promoting the talented participants of the workshop.

Natasha is also employed by Minerva as one of its Associate Navigators -- individuals who navigate students at specific workshops and events in contrast to a Navigator who provides guidance to students in relation to their academic learning only.

Appreciating Natasha as an excellent mentor, Minerva CEO Sana Khalid said, “I was so impressed by Natasha’s skills in her previous workshop that I couldn’t resist attending this workshop myself.
