Head constable injured in robbery bid at his house

KARACHI:

A man was shot dead in his car near Rim Jhim Tower of Safoora Chowrangi in the Sachal police limits on Monday morning.

The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where he was identified as 35-year-old Shehba Lutwani. The deceased lived near Meena Bazar in Karimabad and worked in real estate. Sachal police station duty officer ASI Gul Faraz shared that the Shehbaz and his wife had come to meet the former's brother-in-law in Mehran bungalows.

He was going back home at 5:30 am when armed motorcyclists fired to force the victim to stop the car. The gunmen stole mobile phones and three rings from the couple. When Shehbaz attempted to seize the weapon, the robber shot him twice and fled. He was taken to Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital in a critical condition but succumbed to injuries.

The police recovered two spent bullet casings from the crime scene and took the vehicle of the deceased into custody.

Constable injured in robbery bid

Meanwhile, a police head constable was shot and injured by an unidentified armed man during a robbery bid at house number 1009 in Hussainabad's lane number 16. The incident took place in the Super Highway Industrial Area police jurisdiction. The injured was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as 54-year-old Malikullah Yar, son of Malikullah Bux.

He is a head constable in the police department and deputed at the central police office. Authorities shared that armed suspects intercepted him while he was bringing his motorcycle out of the house. The suspects opened fire and injured him for resisting the robbery bid. The policeman suspected that the bandits were trying to steal the motorcycle.

After collecting evidence from the crime scene and recording statements of the injured policeman, a probe was launched.
