LAHORE:

The Punjab government has decided to start a special road reconstruction and repair programme in the province.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has given in principle approval of the package for reconstruction and repair of roads. The chief minister said the roads in dilapidated condition would be completely reconstructed and the strategy has been formulated for providing relief to the people by repairing roads of cities and villages.

He said that despite spending a substantial amount every year, the condition of the roads is devastated. He further said this new programme would also ensure the transparent utilisation of funds along with the rehabilitation of roads.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held to review the new road repair and reconstruction programmes, development projects and financial affairs of the province, at the CM’s office on Saturday.

Buzdar said a 20% increase in the government revenue in Punjab was the result of transparent policies of the incumbent government.

He also directed the authorities concerned to release funds for the incomplete projects on a priority basis and said each department would be asked to submit their monthly monitoring report to ensure proper use of the public funds.

Under the PSDP Khushab-Mianwali-Sargodha road would be constructed.
