ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan High Commissioner to Canada Raza Bashir Tarar has urged overseas Pakistanis to take full advantage of the incentives offered under the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) as a secure and profitable banking solution and mode of investment.

Speaking at a webinar on Friday, the high commissioner said that the RDA had emerged as a dependable, secure and profitable banking solution and mode of investment for the overseas Pakistanis.

He said that an investment of up to $1.25 billion in the RDA and repatriation of $24.2 billion in home remittances in 10 months by the overseas Pakistanis manifested the trust they had in the economic policies and initiatives taken by the government.

He said over 160,000 Pakistanis from 170 countries had invested $1.25 billion so far in the RDA launched by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) last year for the nine million Pakistanis living abroad.

He said the launch of RDA was in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision to reach out to the overseas Pakistanis and his recent interaction with the Pakistan missions abroad.

During the webinar, it was noted that out of the $1.25 billion deposited by the overseas Pakistanis in the RDA, a handsome amount of $800 million had been invested in Naya Pakistan Certificates due to the best market rates available under the scheme.

It was assured that the RDA was a secure and protected mode of investment and only the best Pakistani banks having robust financial health and strong IT solutions had been roped in to make the scheme a success.
