13 FIRs lodged for child abuse via Zainab app
Thirteen first information reports (FIRs) were registered under the Zainab Alert Response and Recovery ACT (ZARA) Application given reports filed by the citizens highlighting child abuse case of various nature.
According to the Ministry of Human Rights, out of 262 preliminary examinations 21 verifications were carried out and 13 FIRs were registered against the culprits and 25 investigations were conducted of various incidents. A ministry official said there were 321 open cases and 231 were closed cases were reported on the ZARA App.
Giving details of personal incidents, he reported that there were 288 personal incidents recorded on the App whereas 248 social responsibility cases were registered. He said 10 open cases were received and one closed complaint was noted during May.
The registration of child abuse cases saw a 76 per cent decrease compared to the previous months. Of the total reported incidents, 313 pertain to male victims and 238 complaints are regarding female victims.
