21 suspects land in capital police dragnet

Recovered cash, ornaments, mobile phone, narcotics and weapons from their possession

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad police arrested 21 suspects, including two beggar handlers, and recovered cash, ornaments, mobile phone, narcotics and weapons from their possession, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Margalla and Karachi Company police stations arrested a drug dealer, namely Mujahid Shah, and recovered 3,015 grammes of hashish while two proclaimed offenders identified as Ehtsham and Saeed Butt were arrested, respectively.

Moreover, Ramna police arrested a suspect named Khadija Bibi and recovered stolen cash and gold ornaments from her possession. Khanna police arrested a suspect named Ahmed Hassan involved in motorbike theft while Koral police arrested Mughaz Ali and recovered a 30 bore pistol from him.

Meanwhile, Kohsar police arrested a suspect identified as Syed Muhammad and recovered 3,780 grammes of hashish from his possession while Noon police arrested a suspect named Gul Nawaz and recovered 1,120 grammes of heroin from him. Noon police also apprehended two suspects, Shahzain and Sanaullah, involved in illegal selling of oil while Golra police arrested an accused, Habibullah, and recovered 390 grammes of hashish from his possession.

Cases have been registered against the nabbed individuals and further investigation is underway, the spokesperson maintained.

During a special crackdown against professional alms-seekers and their handlers, various police teams arrested eight professional beggars and two handlers.

DIG Operations Afzaal Ahmad Kausar and SSP (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer appreciated the performance of all teams.
