A key Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) Pakistan commander including three terrorists were killed in the wee hours of Tuesday during a major intelligence based operation carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the police in Quetta.
According to CTD spokesperson, the operation was carried out after a tip off based on intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists in Qilli Aghbarg Noushar.
He added that during the exchange of fire that took place between the police and terrorists hiding inside a house, four of them were killed while two accomplices of the terrorists managed to escape unhurt taking advantage of the darkness.
The slain terrorists were identified as commander Riaz aka Tehkedar, Fazal-ur-Rehman, Syed Ramzan and Syed Matiullah.
The killed TTP commander Riaz was involved in various terrorist activities including the 2016 suicide blast at Quetta`s civil hospital, target killings, several motorcycle blasts in Pishin district, bank robberies and also kidnapping of the son of former provincial minister Sardar Ghulam Mustafa Tareen.
A search operation of the house being used by terrorists to reside was later carried out during which officials recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions including maps and documents of important sensitive installations located in the largest province of the country.
The CTD spokesperson maintained that the effort to arrest the escaped terrorists is underway and further investigation is also being carried out.
