A Christian woman had converted to Islam. Nadeem had contracted a second marriage with her. She had five children from her first wedlock.

Her son Hanook had developed a grudge against Nadeem for marrying his mother. Arif alleged that Hanook earlier had also attempted on the victim during the last four years. On Wednesday, he shot dead Nadeem. Police were investigating the matter.
