A 50-year-old man was shot dead in Green Town on Wednesday morning by his stepson.

Police said initial investigations suggested that victim Nadeem was returning home after Fajr prayer.

On the way back home, he was intercepted by a motorcyclist identified as Hanook Masih. The suspect opened fire on the victim. Nadeem suffered bullet wounds on his head, chest and other parts of the body. Hanook afterwards fled from the scene.

Police with the help of Edhi Ambulance shifted the body to a morgue for autopsy and launched investigations.

The brother of the victim, Shahid Arif, in his complaint with the police said the first wife of Nadeem had died four years back.

A Christian woman had converted to Islam. Nadeem had contracted a second marriage with her. She had five children from her first wedlock.

Her son Hanook had developed a grudge against Nadeem for marrying his mother. Arif alleged that Hanook earlier had also attempted on the victim during the last four years. On Wednesday, he shot dead Nadeem. Police were investigating the matter.
