CDWP approves 15 projects worth Rs38.2b

Recommends five projects costing Rs117.5b to ECNEC for review

ISLAMABAD:

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Tuesday approved 15 development projects worth Rs38.24 billion and recommended five other projects costing Rs117.5 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further consideration.

Chaired by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, the meeting discussed projects related to transport and communications, education, energy, environment, governance, healthcare, information technology, higher education, water resources and housing.

During the meeting, four projects related to transport and communications were presented. The scheme titled “Construction of Gilgit-Shandor Road on EPC Mode” costing Rs49.9 billion was recommended to Ecnec for approval. The “Construction, Rehabilitation, Improvement and Widening of Chitral-Ayun-Bumborate Road” project worth Rs7 billion and “Rehabilitation and Up-gradation of Awaran-Jhaljao Road” worth Rs7.4 billion were approved by the CDWP.

Moreover, the meeting gave the go-ahead to a scheme titled “Feasibility Study and Transaction Advisory Services for Peshawar Greater Railways” costing Rs64.9 million.

A project related to education titled “Sindh Early Learning Enhancement through Classroom Transformation” was referred to Ecnec for review. The scheme would cost Rs28 billion.
