Sindh sees 22 Covid fatalities, over 2,000 new cases

20,762 were in home isolation, 845 admitted at different hospitals and 25 at isolation centres

The pandemic claimed 22 more lives in Sindh, which reported over 2,000 fresh infections on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House on Friday, 2,136 persons were diagnosed with the coronavirus when 24,299 samples were tested, indicating a positivity rate of 8.8 percent.

The provincial pandemic death toll soared to 4,891 with the recent deaths, said CM Syed Murad Ali Shah, adding that the total tally of infections has risen to 306,690.

Another 979 persons also recovered from the infection bringing the total recoveries in the province to 280,167, added Shah.

Elaborating further, the CM said that there were 21,632 active coronavirus cases in Sindh as of Friday.

Of these, 20,762 were in home isolation, 845 admitted at different hospitals and 25 at isolation centres.

The condition of at least 810 patients was stated to be critical with 68 shifted to ventilators.

Of the 2,136 new cases, 1,153 were detected in Karachi, 232 in Khairpur and 166 in Hyderabad.
