QUETTA:

A bloody clash between warring tribes of Balochistan left seven people dead and injured three others in Barkhan district on Wednesday evening.

Barkhan Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Gul Khilji said Jhang and Gajani tribes clashed over a land dispute in Haji Kot and as result of heavy exchange of fire between the tribes, three brothers among seven people were killed while three others sustained injuries.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, local police along-with rescuers rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to district headquarter hospital Barkhan. As per hospital sources, four bodies and six injured persons with bullet injuries were brought to the hospital. Later, three of the injured persons succumbed to their wounds while under medical treatment.

The hospital sources further said after being given first aid treatment, the injured persons were referred to Dera Ghazi Khan for further medical treatment.

The bodies were handed over to heirs after completion of medico-legal formalities.

“The land dispute had been prolonging between both the tribes since a long period,” DC Barkhan said, adding that in order to avert further escalation, an extra contingent of police had been deployed in the area and the situation is now in control. Tension prevailed after the bloody clash and the area remained battlefield during an hour long fight as both groups used heavy weaponry against each other.
