A National Highway Authority (NHA) staffer who was hit by a speeding car at a toll plaza on the motorway while ignoring a signal to stop, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
After being hit at Peshawar motorway toll plaza, Adeel Ali Shah was moved to the Lady Reading Hospital by his colleagues for medical treatment. However, the injured breathed his last during medical treatment.
The motorway police spokesman said the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident had been obtained by the officials. The footage showed that the reckless driver was signalled to stop at the toll plaza for violating the speed limit, however, the driver instead made an attempt to flee from the scene and meanwhile hit Adeel Ali Shah who sustained fatal injuries.
The motorway police spokesman added that the driver had been taken into custody and investigation was under way.
The video of the incident had drawn the irk of the netizens who called for justice for the motorway staffer.
