Happy Mother's Day! Stars express love for 'best friends, support systems'
A support system, a hero, a fighter, an anchor, a best friend - these are just many names for a mother. As the world celebrates Mother's Day, celebrities took to social media to share their feelings for their superheroes. Penning heartfelt messages for their mums, artists share never seen before pictures.
Singer Hadiqa Kiani took to Instagram and wrote, "Piyari ama. Grateful for every day with my incredible mother. My mother, Khawar, has lived an awe-inspiring life of an educator, a poet, a fighter and a hero. She continues to be my source of strength and love. So grateful to be able to be with her every day."
Sports anchor Zainab Abbas shared a picture with her mother and wrote how grateful is she for her. "She’s followed me around the world at the cricket and obviously is the strongest person I know, the one where I derive all my strength from," Abbas said, adding, "Happy Mother’s Day to my exceptional mother and to all the wonderful Mamas out there, respect and love for all."
Meesha Shafi took to Twitter and posted pictures of her mother, veteran actor Saba Hamid. "Happy Mother’s Day Ma," the former Overload singer penned, adding, "Although you are celebrated every single day as a mother to so many on-screen, Faris and I are blessed to have you all to ourselves in real life."
Shaan Shahid, who recently lost his mother, Neelo, prayed, "May all the mothers of the world be healthy and have a long life. May they never go away."
He added, "The hand that prayed and guided me .. the arms that held me safe from all the tempests of life. Thank you for always being with me. May ALLAH honour you in the heavens for being the greatest mother. I love you."

Imran Abbas while posting a picture of himself kissing his mother's feet, remarked, " I am nothing without you Maañ Ji, my Jannat! May I always keep kissing your feet till I am alive. Happy Mother’s Day to every mother of this world."
Iqra Aziz wrote, "From a very khaas mother to an even more khaas Grandmother-to-be, words aren’t enough to express how blessed I am to have you. While some celebrities shared their love for their mothers, others shared how their children showered love on them. Veteran actor Atiqa Odho posted a picture of a beautiful bouquet and wrote, "My daughter gave me a beautiful hand-made flower basket with real baby pink roses for Mother's Day. So so beautiful. Along with the thoughtful gift came a card with a few but very meaningful words that touched my heart and made my year! I'm so blessed to have beautiful, caring children. Thank you, Allah. Aisha Malik, too, shared a picture with her daughter and penned, "I got you!"
Not just Pakistani celebs, many Indian stars took to social media as well and expressed their love for their mothers.
Soha Ali Khan posted a picture with her mother, veteran Sharmila Tagore and wrote, "Never taking a cuddle for granted again! Happy Mother's Day to my lovely Amman and to all the other fabulous mothers (including myself) who do the most important job in the world every single day."
Sharing a throwback picture with her mom, actor Madhuri Dixit Nene said, "I have learnt so much from aai and I continue to do so every single day."
Farhan Akhtar posted a picture of his mom and Zoya Akhtar and wrote, "Happy Mother's Day."
Posting a picture with her mom, Babita, and sister Kareena Kapoor Khan, actor Karisma Kapoor wrote, "The strongest mamas I know. Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mother's out there."
Preity Zinta also posted a picture with her mom and shared, "Happiness is seeing your mother smile Happy Mother's Day to meri ma and the center of my universe. Thank you for being my moral compass, my strength and all things nice inside of me. Love you to the moon and back."
Shahid Kapoor wrote a detailed note for mother Neelima Azeem. "Happy Mother’s Day. She is always the wind beneath our wings. Her gaze is loving and forgiving and always sees us as the best version of ourselves. She has nurtured us with so much love that we are capable of passing it on and spreading it into the world.
