A support system, a hero, a fighter, an anchor, a best friend - these are just many names for a mother. As the world celebrates Mother's Day, celebrities took to social media to share their feelings for their superheroes. Penning heartfelt messages for their mums, artists share never seen before pictures.

Singer Hadiqa Kiani took to Instagram and wrote, "Piyari ama. Grateful for every day with my incredible mother. My mother, Khawar, has lived an awe-inspiring life of an educator, a poet, a fighter and a hero. She continues to be my source of strength and love. So grateful to be able to be with her every day."

Sports anchor Zainab Abbas shared a picture with her mother and wrote how grateful is she for her. "She’s followed me around the world at the cricket and obviously is the strongest person I know, the one where I derive all my strength from," Abbas said, adding, "Happy Mother’s Day to my exceptional mother and to all the wonderful Mamas out there, respect and love for all."

Meesha Shafi took to Twitter and posted pictures of her mother, veteran actor Saba Hamid. "Happy Mother’s Day Ma," the former Overload singer penned, adding, "Although you are celebrated every single day as a mother to so many on-screen, Faris and I are blessed to have you all to ourselves in real life."

Shaan Shahid, who recently lost his mother, Neelo, prayed, "May all the mothers of the world be healthy and have a long life. May they never go away."

He added, "The hand that prayed and guided me .. the arms that held me safe from all the tempests of life. Thank you for always being with me. May ALLAH honour you in the heavens for being the greatest mother. I love you."

"To all the souls who are trying to make this challenging time of pandemic comfortable with their kindness, Happy Mother's Day," shared Adnan Siddiqui.

Imran Abbas while posting a picture of himself kissing his mother's feet, remarked, " I am nothing without you Maañ Ji, my Jannat! May I always keep kissing your feet till I am alive. Happy Mother’s Day to every mother of this world."

Iqra Aziz wrote, "From a very khaas mother to an even more khaas Grandmother-to-be, words aren’t enough to express how blessed I am to have you. I can’t wait for the little one to have you as their guardian angel and for you to shower the same laad pyar that my Naani spoiled me with. So lucky to have you hold my hand through it all. Happy Mother’s Day Maa!"

While some celebrities shared their love for their mothers, others shared how their children showered love on them. Veteran actor Atiqa Odho posted a picture of a beautiful bouquet and wrote, "My daughter gave me a beautiful hand-made flower basket with real baby pink roses for Mother's Day. So so beautiful. Along with the thoughtful gift came a card with a few but very meaningful words that touched my heart and made my year! I'm so blessed to have beautiful, caring children. Thank you, Allah. May they always stay safe, healthy and happy."

Aisha Malik, too, shared a picture with her daughter and penned, "I got you!"

Not just Pakistani celebs, many Indian stars took to social media as well and expressed their love for their mothers.

Shahid Kapoor wrote a detailed note for mother Neelima Azeem. "Happy Mother’s Day. She is always the wind beneath our wings. Her gaze is loving and forgiving and always sees us as the best version of ourselves. She has nurtured us with so much love that we are capable of passing it on and spreading it into the world. Being the older one by almost 14 years my bond with mom has been very unique, like a friend. And our journey has been beyond words. There is no one who can be you mom," the Kabir Singh star penned.

"On this day, let’s recognise that Mother earth is our mother too. And we haven’t been the nicest kids to her. She is damaged and depleted by us. She needs healing. She needs us to heal her. For the future of our kids. Let’s leave them a healthy happy home. Not what we have done to it. We are the generation that needs to be the change," he concluded.
