PMC allowed to run readmission process at medical colleges

The court heard the petition filed by the students against the re-admission process at medical colleges

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court has directed the Pakistan Medical Commission to continue the process of readmission at medical colleges. The PMC has also been ordered not to take any disciplinary action against the petitioner students whose application against re-admission at medical colleges is pending before the court.

The court on Friday heard the petition filed by the PMC and the plea of students of a private medical college in Lahore. On behalf of the PMC, Sardar Taimur Aslam sought direction from the court on the process of readmission, recalling that the court had barred them from taking any action against some students of the Rawal Medical College who had filed the petition against readmission process. The court directed the PMC to continue the process of readmissions but not to take any action against the students who had filed the petition.

On the other hand, the court heard the petition filed by the students against the re-admission process at medical colleges. the court issued notices to the PMC and other parties and sought a reply. It may be recalled that the PMC had issued readmission orders due to irregularities in admissions to medical colleges. The PMC has sought applications for readmission in private colleges.
