PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police on Thursday decided to use drones for surveillance on Eid holidays and set up a control room to monitor smart lockdowns in the city.

The decisions were taken by CCPO Peshawar Abbas Ahsan during a high level meeting. According to sources familiar with the matter, various markets throughout the city, streets and highways will be monitored by CCTV cameras to make sure the lockdown is implemented and people are following SOPs devised by the government.

Covid liason officers will also be deployed in two shifts. In case of any violation, the liaison officer will inform the responsible police station and patrolling teams. He will also prepare and submit a daily report during the lockdown. Immediate action will be taken against those violating the lockdown and not adhering to SOPs.

Covid Response Force personnel will be deployed at various points in the city. Aerial surveillance of the city will also be carried out for all key places including amusement parks and mosques while rush areas will be immediately cordoned off by the response force.

The Peshawar police will work with the district administration and the Pakistan Army to implement the SOPs during the Eid holidays.
