KCCI demands date extension
Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Shariq Vohra on Thursday demanded that the Federal Board of Revenue further extend the date for payment of sales tax and federal excise duty, and submission of tax returns till May 30, 2021 to facilitate the taxpayers.
According to a statement, the KCCI chief, in a letter sent to FBR Chairman Asim Ahmed, pointed out that a three-day extension in the deadline for payment of sales tax and federal excise duty and filing tax returns for April 2021 was not enough.
“It takes time to get back to routine after observing extended holidays of Eidul Fitr, which will be from May 9 to 16, 2021. The business and industrial community may not be able to prepare and submit sales tax and federal excise returns within the announced extension of just a few days,” he lamented.
Keeping in view the overall situation, the KCCI president requested the FBR to extend the date up to May 30, 2021 in the larger interest of the revenue board and business community.
