The Sindh High Court directed on Wednesday the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) to verify the eligibility of employees over a contempt of court plea pertaining to the regularisation of school principals who cleared the Institute of Business Administration Sukkur test.
The Sindh education department secretary and the petitioner appeared before a two-member bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito.

The petitioner's counsel contended that the IBA is also an esteemed institution and is comparable to the SPSC. When the principals have passed the IBA test then why are they being forced to appear for further exams, he asked.
At this, the education secretary stated that passing the SPSC was compulsory for the appointment of school principals.
An agreement was reached and it was decided that the SPSC will verify the eligibility of all the employees.
The bench asked how long would it take for the verification process to be completed.
To this, the education secretary stated that he would submit all details at the next hearing slated for May 25.
The SHC had earlier ordered the regularisation of 958 primary and government school principals.

Sentence commuted
Meanwhile, the SHC commuted the death penalty awarded to a man convicted of triple murder to life imprisonment.
The convict, Muhammad Aslam, was sentenced to death by the trial court in 2019.
