PESHAWAR:

Security forces on Wednesday conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district, killing two terrorists, a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The military's media wing said that an officer, identified as Captain Faheem, and two soldiers – Sepoy Shafi and Sepoy Naseem – embraced martyrdom during the exchange of fire with the terrorists in North Waziristan's Dosalli area.

K-P Governor Shah Farman expressed his grief over the martyrdom of the security forces personnel in the operation.

"Security forces have made countless sacrifices in the war against terror," he said in a statement.

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan also prayed for the martyrs’ elevation to higher ranks hereafter. "The whole nation is proud of the sacrifices of the security forces," he added.

Last month, security forces killed a terrorist belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Shehryar Mehsud group during an IBO in the Ladha area of South Waziristan, according to the ISPR.

“During intense exchange of fire, 1 [one] terrorist, Peer alias Asad was killed. [The] Killed terrorist was an active member of TTP since 2006,” it said.

Earlier on February 17, it was reported that security forces had killed three terrorists, from the Aleem Khan Khushali group, during an IBO in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district.

“These terrorists were involved in target killing, kidnapping for ransom, extortion, fire raid on security forces and improvised explosive device (IED) explosions,” the military’s media wing had added. “Sanitisation of the area was carried out.”

On February 4, security forces killed four terrorists during an operation in North Waziristan.

The military's media wing said that the operation was conducted after the security forces observed the presence of the terrorists in a compound in North Waziristan's Mir Ali area.

The ISPR said that 42-year-old resident of Chitral Naib Subedar Aminullah and a 24-year-old resident of Landi Kotal Sepoy Sher Zamin embraced martyrdom while four other soldiers sustained injuries during the operation.

N K Ali | 3 years ago | Reply Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajeoon. Ameen. It is indeed glorifying and admirable the way in which our security forces are controlling our vast border with Afghanistan and Iran. More so with the exit of the US forces and the presence of US contractors and TTP and other terrorist outfits trained fitted and equipped by the US the task of managing the border becomes even more deadlier. The future holds nothing but an implied assurance that the US will not let Pakistan off but will try tooth and nail fangs and claws and daggers to break the nation and defang us of our defensive and offensive capability and delivery systems. For that we must hold fast to Allah Almighty and protect our borders with untainted patriotism to Pakistan. Pakistan Zindsabad. Ameen and Salams
