Nine succumb to Covid, over 1,100 new infections emerge

Sindh pushing the death toll to 4,687 and another 1,122 infections emerged on Tuesday

As the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic ravages through Pakistan, nine more people lost their lives to the contagion in Sindh pushing the death toll to 4,687 and another 1,122 infections emerged on Tuesday.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that with the recent fatalities, the death rate in Sindh from the pandemic has reached 1.6 per cent.

The CM added that 15,297 tests were conducted and 1,112 new cases were diagnosed constituting a detection rate of 7.3 per cent.

Another 612 patients also recovered from the infection overnight, said Shah, adding that thus far 266,388 patients have recovered in Sindh.

According to Shah, out of 1,122 new cases, 427 were detected from Karachi and 286 from Hyderabad.
The CM said that 16,567 patients are under treatment for the contagion in Sindh.

Of these, 15,939 were in home isolation and 628 were admitted at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 592 patients was stated to be critical, including 56 shifted to ventilators.
