12 die, 25 injured as bus overturns in Attock

Five injured in critical condition shifted to Rawalpindi DHQ

At least 12 passengers have been reported dead while 25 were injured after a deadly accident near Burhan Interchange in Attock wherein a speedy bus turned on its head, Rescue 1122 officials said on Monday.

A National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) spokesperson said that the accident was so horrific that six people died on the spot. They were identified as Ashfaq Ali (35), Muhammad Salman (19), Waqas (20), Muhammad Kamran (28), Muhammad Rauf (47), Hamdah (30), Haroon (40), and five-year-old Khadija.

After receiving information, NHMP DIG Ashfaq Ahmed reached the site with a heavy contingent. The official said that they were investigating the cause of the accident.

Moreover, Rescue 1122 spokesperson informed that five injured were in a critical condition. The rescuers cut the grills of the bus to pull out the victims. They were shifted to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital in Rawalpindi.

NHMP spokesperson further stated that they have cleared the motorway route for traffic while the bodies would be handed over to the families. According to details, the bus carried passengers from Lahore bound for Mardan.
