KARACHI:

The police claimed on Sunday to have arrested three people on allegations of having links with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and recovered weapons from them.

According to the Keamari Police they received a tip-off that some TTP operatives were holed up in a hideout near the Valika Chowrangi in the SITE area planning a terrorist activity.

Subsequently, police conducted a raid and arrested Gul Niaz Ali, Shahrukh Abdul Rehman and Ajab Gul and claimed to have seized three weapons and bullets from them. The suspects were allegedly raising funds for TTP and acting as facilitators for other operatives of the banned outfit.

Police said that Ajab Gul's brother and father were already imprisoned over terrorism charges. Ajab was earlier arrested for illegal arms possession and police encounter, however, he got released on bail and was absconding since then.

Separately, Waleed Chikna, is a suspect wanted in various cases of murder, attempt to murder, attack on police and drug trafficking, said the cops. The Keamari Police said that a squad identified Chikna during patrol on Manghopir Road.

Waleed, who goes by his alias, Chikna or baby face, was a member of the Shiraz Gang of Liyari, police claimed. Police of 12 precincts were looking for Chikna, but he always managed to slip away.
