Sindh sees over 1,000 new Covid-19 cases

Five more succumb to coronavirus in province

As many as 1,029 new Covid-19 infections were detected against 14,716 tests in Sindh on Wednesday, when five coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the province, according to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on the day.

The CM said following the recent detections and deaths, Sindh Covid-19 death toll had increased to 4,629, and its coronavirus tally had risen to 281,384.

Of the new cases, 492 were reported in Karachi, 221 in Hyderabad, 71 in Sukkur, 36 in Matiari, 30 in Shikarpur, 19 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 18 each in Larkana and Sujawal, 17 in Thatta, 15 in Khairpur, 14 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 13 in Ghotki, 11 in Tando Allahyar, eight each in Badin and Umerkot, seven in Jamshoro, four in Dadu, three each in Jacobabad and Mirpurkhas, two in Sanghar and one in Qambar-Shahdadkot.

Besides, the CM said, with 508 fresh recoveries, the total number of recoveries in the province now added up to 263,773.

He said 12,982 patients were under treatment for the infection in Sindh as of Wednesday, with 12,395 in home isolation, seven in isolation centres and 580 in hospitals.
