RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi police have arrested a sub-inspector of the Islamabad police for chasing and stopping the convoy of a Lahore High Court (LHC) judge in his private vehicle near Taxila and verbally abusing the staff.

According to sources, the convoy of an LHC Rawalpindi Bench judge was passing near Sangjani when a sub-inspector, posted at Tarnol police station, signalled the convoy to stop.

However, due to security reasons, when the convoy continued its journey on the fast track of the national highway, the sub-inspector chased the motorcade in his private car and stopped it and allegedly misbehaved with the staff.

The officials in the convoy informed the officials of Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) who took the sub-inspector into custody and shifted him to the Taxila police station.

He was later released on the instructions of the judge and the whole matter was referred to the Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP).

In this regard, an official of Rawalpindi police said that Taxila police station was contacted after the incident. However, the convoy officials said that the matter was referred to Islamabad IGP who will look into the matter.
