LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting on the development of the mines and minerals sector at his office on Friday. Punjab Mines and Minerals Department secretary briefed the meeting’s participants about the departmental performance and future roadmap. The chief minister announced to fully explore the mines and minerals sector to create more jobs and to boost local industry. The mining sector will be given the necessary facilities to grow, he assured.

This sector became victim to meretricious politics as tall claims were made by previous governments with no results, the CM regretted. The CM pointed out the incumbent government was taking steps to fully modernise the mines and minerals sector. “A composite policy has been devised for the lease of mines.” The exploitation of the minerals sector is the need of the hour to strengthen the economy and the departmental reforms will develop and modernise this sector, concluded the CM.
