ISLAMABAD:

It is a well-known fact that with the advent of the holy month of Ramazan, the spirit of charity, magnanimity compassion and empathy for the less privileged of society is rekindled anew.

It is with this thought in mind, many affluent individuals, as well as charities and religious organisations, arrange iftar dastarkhwans (dining arrangement) in various areas of the city.

Like other cities, this a common feature in Rawalpindi also where mosques and other different places in the city provide free iftar-cum meal facility to deserving people.

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and strict SOPs, being followed many such charities are also offering takeaway meal facilities to avoid a rush of people at one place. A philanthropist said that our charity work has become more difficult due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but despite that, we are trying to manage it by following the SOPs and government health guidelines.

A number of deserving people break their fast at these iftar Dastarkhwan which is a great relief for them. Local philanthropists are also hosting free 'Iftar Dastarkhwan' at different places, including outside hospitals and bus stops of the city to serve free foods.

Various mosques and markets committees are also arranging free iftar dastarkhwan during the holy month of Ramazan.
