KARACHI:

Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon visit and announce a "big package", especially for rural areas, said Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Tuesday.

The governor was addressing the inauguration ceremony of an exhibition organised by the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications to mark the 83rd death anniversary of Dr Allam Muhammad Iqbal.

Ismail said, "Youngsters must know about the services and roles of our heroes in the creation of Pakistan and such events are ideal for raising awareness about the services of our heroes among the young generation."

However, he added, as the government was committed to strictly following Covid-19 restrictions, students had been unable to attend the exhibition. The governor further stated that Iqbal envisioned Pakistan as a welfare state, where every citizen, including minorities, could enjoy equal rights.

Replying to a question, the governor said the provision of wheat flour, ghee and spices at subsidised rates would be ensured during Ramazan and strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in price gouging.
