KARACHI:

The bid to approve the controversial census results is a blow to the rights of Sindh province, according to Pakistan Peoples Party Karachi president and Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani and PPP Sindh general-secretary Waqar Mehdi on Sunday.

"We reject the sham census and question the silence of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan over the headcount largely disapproved by public circles," they stated, in a joint statement issued on the day.

"We not only condemn the decision of the federation to approve the controversial census but also reject it outright."

The two PPP leaders were of the view that reducing the population of Sindh was not just a conspiracy against any individual political party but was against the province and its people.

They claimed that the federal government and its allies, including the MQM-P, which passed the controversial census, have committed a criminal act.
