Taking prompt action on violations of building by-laws, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed five buildings at the IT centre of Sector G-8/1, a spokesperson said on Sunday.
The Buildings Control Section (BCS) of CDA during the operation sealed plots 50, 51, 52, 53 and 54 of the centre for said violations. According to details, plot owners had set up illegal shops in the residential area at the back of the centre in flagrant violation of Islamabad Capital Territory Building Control Regulations, 2020.
In this regard, the owners of the said plots were issued show-cause notices, however, they were not complied with by the owners. The BCS has sealed the entrances of these plots on the violation of non-conforming use.
It is pertinent to mention here that the opening of shops at the backside of the centre is not only a violation of the approved by-laws but also a matter of public concern.
An official said that the shops have entrances towards the residential area and were creating problems for the residents. These illegal setups were not only blocking footpaths but also creating parking issues, he added.
Meanwhile, the chief commissioner (CC) of Islamabad Capital Territory has directed all the relevant departments for a comprehensive crackdown against illegal housing schemes to protect the general public from falling into traps of the real estate sector's tricksters.
The CC office passed the directions to the deputy commissioner, registrar cooperatives, director Municipal Administration and directorates concerned of the Capital Development Authority on receipt of numerous complaints, an official said on Sunday.
