A woman allegedly strangled to death her two sons near Kamran Park, Shahdara area on Saturday.

Reportedly, the suspect was deranged over her domestic dispute and quarrels with her husband.

Police said that the suspected murderer, 40-year-old Najma, wife of Muhammad Shafiq and resident of Kamran Park, Gulshan-e-Hayyat Colony, killed her two sons identified as 10-year-old Bilal and eight-year-old Talha by strangling them.

Neighbours of the victims entered the house after hearing noise of the children.

At that time, Najma was trying to kill her six-year-old daughter Maryam, who was eventually rescued.

The suspect also injured herself with a sharp edged weapon.

The suspect’s husband Shafique, who worked as an electrician, called helpline 15.

Police shifted the bodies to a morgue. Khurram, a relative of the alleged murderer, told the police that Najma was mentally unstable.

Police arrested the suspect and were investigating the matter further.

Punjab IGP Inam Ghani took notice of the murder in Shahdara and sought a report on the matter from Lahore CCPO.
